TEMPORARY RESTRICTED
If you are an Iowa resident and your Iowa driver's license has been revoked, suspended or barred, you may be eligible for a Temporary Restricted License (TRL).
WHAT IS A TEMPORARY RESTRICTED LICENSE AND DO I NEED ONE?
A TRL is required to regain driving privileges after a DUI in Iowa and allows you to drive. Prior to issuance of a TRL, you will have to complete the following:
- Provide a certificate of installation of an approved ignition interlock device (IID) in all vehicles you own or will operate.
- Provide proof of financial responsibility insurance (SR-22).
- Pay any required civil penalties.
- Complete all other requirements as given.
APPLY FOR YOUR TRL
To apply, submit a Temporary Restricted License Application, Form 430400. If you are approved, you will receive a notice to take this with you to a DOT driver's license station.
